Over a dozen hippies, recently dispersed from the Solnechnoye commune, sit in Kazanskii square outside of Kazan Cathedral in Leningrad, 1977. Seven hippies sit a row on a park bench in the foreground. The man seated leftmost flashes the peace sign to the camera. Another seated hippie (third from the right) raises the peace behind the head of the girl seated to the left. Behind those sitting on the bench, four hippies stand in a cluster at center and look to camera. The man standing and looking to camera at center shows the V sign and raises it behind the heads of 2 seated men. Gena Zaitsev stands rightmost of this group; he also shows the peace sign with his hand. The man with the bucket hat behind and to the left of Zaitsev is Sasha the Artist. At right, Alik Olisevich appears to hover over the rest of the group. A trio of men form a semi-circle at left, seemingly unaware of the camera. In the background at left, one of the Kazan Cathedral's colonnades terminates behind them. Buildings surrounding the square stretch across the background.
