[Karbyshev, a Soviet general, was said to have been killed in Mauthausen concentration camp; reportedly the guards poured him with ice-cold water until he froze]. On the arm of the monument, a red carnation. The text: "Zhivye I mertvye", translates: "The living and the dead demand that the torturers be punished!"
