Ceramic plate with factory-made flower motif border, probably from a set of consumer dinner plates. Features Liaka the dog hand-painted in front of a green background. Cyrillic text reads: "Laika - pervyi puteshestvennik v kosmos", which translates to "Laika - the first traveler to space". Occupying the 1957 Sputnik 2, Laika the Space Dog was the first earthling to be launched into space.
