This posters is an example of peasant painting from Huxian in the Shaanxi province. The poster highlights the bounty of hte commune and prosperous living conditions in the countryside provided by the Chinese Communist Party. As part of Mao's policy to popularize the arts, peasants in rural areas across China were encouraged to illustrate the spirit and creative genius of hte mases. However, in reality, most works by amateur artists were touched up or redrafted by professional artists who were sent to the countryside to teach their craft. This work was meant for international export, as evinced by the translations of the title in English, French and German.
