Country: Hungary

Materials: fabric; thread; wood
Measurements: 9 3/4 in x 17 3/4 in; 24.765 cm x 45.085 cm

A Hungarian banner, constructed of red, satin weave cloth, and trimmed around the border (except for the top edge) with a gold twisted cord. The shape of the banner is rectangular with a triangular point at the very bottom. The banner is intended to be hung vertically, with a wood dowel slippd into a pocket on the top edge. A gold tassel hangs from the pointed bottom edge. This banner was likely awarded based on a worker's achievement at a factory or plant, given some gold, cursive embroidered text on the banner that reads "Üzemünk legjobb dolgozója." Above the text is a logo that corresponds with the Hungarian People's Republic coat of arms used between 1949-1956: a hammer and bundle of grain underneath a red star (which has faded to orange), above a banner with red, white, and green stripes (which have now faded to an orange, white, and black hue), encompassed by bundles of grain.
