A series of comics featuring the model hero Lei Feng. Holdings include two framed posters, each with 6 comics. The poster was designed by the husband and wife team Wang Juping and Zhu Yi. Wang was a painter and professor of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts. Poster 1 includes comics 1 through 6; poster 2 includes comics 7 through 12. Each column of three comics is labeled 1-4. Comics are to be read top to bottom, from left to right. At the top of each column of comics is the title "Chairman Mao's Good Soldier-- Lei Feng" and a quote from Lei Feng's diary, which was the object of study of a national campaign. Each comic illustrates Lei Feng's various good deeds and commitment to the Socialist cause. Poster 1 Column 1: comic 1 illustrates Lei Feng studying the works of Chairman Mao; comic 2 depicts Lei Feng practicing with grenades; comic 3 depicts Lei Feng studying how to drive a truck and using Mao Zedong's teachings. Column 2: comic 4 features Lei Feng speaking at a conference about class oppression and recalling his difficult past; comic 5 depicts Lei Feng being thrifty and mending his military uniform; comic 6 shows Lei Feng teaching Young Pioneers how to be thrify by saving metal scraps and hardware in a wooden box. Poster 2 Column 1: comic 7 features Lei Feng donating his savings to the Heping People's commune; comic 8 shows Lei Feng caring for other travelers on the train-- reading newspapers, pouring tea, and cleaning the space-- in order to make the passengers love the Party; comic 9 depicts Lei Feng helping a woman and her children during a rainy day. Column 2: comic 10 shows Lei Feng riding a tractor nad working in the field; comic 11 depicts Lei Feng participating in construction and industry, and winning various titles and awards recognizing his achievements; comic 12 features Lei Feng's role in the People's Liberation army and lists his accomplishments and awards as a soldier.
